People who generally focus on the price of Macs generally just don't get it. I wouldn't trade my Mac for a room full of PC's, no matter how cheap they were. Because VSL only has small reflections on their sound stage it allows a lot of options for the mix.One last point, about the PC vs. It's easier with EWQLSO admittedly, but having different settings is very possible with VSL as well. The solo violin used in the right places can really make a song come alive.Half decent mixing skills is good thing to learn and progress with regardless of the library you have.Absolutely.![]() Here in Los Angeles, the OVERWHELMING majority of composers do their sequencing on the Mac, largely with DP and Logic, and the Cubase SX. Much lower prices indeed.As for your first question, I agree with those who say that EW has a bigger sound, and I personally like it a lot.I don't know where you live, Guga, but I think you missed Craig's point entirely. Both Macintosh and PC share almost the same softwares today, and there is many people using both systems, so that´s your choice.Just consider that most musicians that are deep into hardware prefer to use PCs, basically because you can get more performance for lower prices. There is no system that will make you "more compatible" with other composers by any chance. 64-bit support from program manufacturers would be great too.Currently the VisionDAW can easily run 5 instances of Kompakt so today it gives me access to the orchestral template while I wait for some of the Mac issues to be resolved to satisfaction.I do not agree with that. To take it one step further, in every summer school program, seminar, event, and intern job I've seen or participated in here in LA, they ALL stated that at least SOME mac proficiency was required to participate. The reasons for this are many but for example, a main composer may have helpers and they all must work from the same main pallete so all production aspects can be traded for simplifying work between them. The majority of composers HERE in LA use Macs as their main sequencer.
